A Compact for Devon

The Compact for Devon is a practical agreement for improving relationships and working practices between organisations in the statutory sector and those in the voluntary and community sector. It complies with government requirements for statutory organisations to develop a local compact as part of a national compact. The compact is not a legal contract but a mutual agreement between the signatories to agree a set of principles and working practices.

Capacitybuilders

Capacitybuilders is a non-departmental public body (NDPB) set up in 2006 to take over the management of the ChangeUp programme and to work with other funders to build capacity of the Third Sector. They exist to create a more effective third sector and we do this by improving support for third sector organisations.

ChangeUp

ChangeUp is managed at arms-length from government by Capacitybuilders. They work in partnership with government and other infrastructure bodies to help voluntary and community organisations work more effectively.

Community Council of Devon

The vision of CCD is of active rural communities shaping their own futures with improved opportunity and quality of life for all. Their mission is that they strive to make this happen through our direct work with communities, local knowledge, networks, professional services, and their influencing role.

DACVS

Devon Association for Council’s of Voluntary Service works to support the voluntary and community sector to develop and improve its contribution to the lives of citizens in Devon. The Partnership adopts the working principle of ‘local focus, county voice.’ This recognises the value and benefits of developing common policy positions at a strategic level while retaining local identity and meeting the diverse needs of the sub-region through local delivery. 

Devon LAA

Local Area Agreements (LAAs) are a new element in the Government’s policy for improving local services. At their heart, LAAs aim to: secure local solutions to local issues, focus on outcomes and priorities, join up public services, work across boundaries, work together, and simplify government funding streams.

Devon Strategic Partnership

The Devon Strategic Partnership comprises public, private, voluntary and community sector organisations, all working together to improve the quality of life for those who live, work in and visit Devon.

East Devon Council for Voluntary Service

East Devon CVS exists to help local voluntary organisations, community groups and charities to flourish. They offer advice and information on a wealth of topics, including funding, volunteers, the law and project management. They help local groups to work together and support them as they grow and develop their activities. They also act as a voice for the local voluntary and community sector.

Exeter Council for Voluntary Service

Exeter CVS encourages, supports and develops individuals, groups and organisations involved in voluntary action to help them work more effectively; promotes and supports new initiatives which address areas of social inclusion, economic disadvantage and community development; and works in partnership with the public and private sectors in order to help develop a more just and caring society.

Fata He

Fata He (a West African word which means ‘Inclusion’) was established in 2001 to redress social and economic inequalities relating to Black and Minority Ethnic (B&ME) individuals, families and group within the city of Plymouth. Their aim to build a sustainable, vibrant and cohesive B&ME voluntary and community sector in Devon, Cornwall, Plymouth and Torbay through a number of strong, innovative, proactive and representational B&ME Forums and a sub regional infrastructure hub.

Home Office

The Home Office is the government department responsible for leading the national effort to protect the public from terrorism, crime and anti-social behaviour.

Involve – Mid Devon Council for Voluntary Service

Involve is a voluntary and community local infrastructure organisations providing the full range of developmental, capacity building and support functions to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of voluntary and community organisations working within Mid Devon.

North Devon Voluntary Services

North Devon Voluntary Services supports and promotes voluntary activity and the voluntary sector as a whole and encourages the sector to co-operate with the public and private sectors to help develop a more just and caring society.

South Hams Council for Voluntary Service

South Hams CVS exists to help local voluntary organisations, community groups and charities to flourish. They offer advice and information on a wealth of topics, including funding, volunteers, the law and management. They help local groups to work together and support them as they grow. They also encourage and enable a voice for the local voluntary sector.

Teignbridge Council for Voluntary Service

Teignbridge CVS provides information, support and advice to voluntary and community groups working in Teignbridge. In practice this includes organising affordable training to meet local needs, the provision of a substantial fundraising advice service, the production & distribution of a bimonthly newsletter and dealing with a wide range of enquiries on all aspects of running a voluntary organisation. The CVS also provides a voice for the sector through local/regional forums and networks. It provides a focus for the development of strategic initiatives that effect voluntary groups in Teignbridge, including partnerships with statutory authorities.

Torridge Voluntary Services

TVS provides infrastructure support for the voluntary and community sector and volunteering in Torridge as well as providing direct services to individuals in the community via our Carers support projects and projects to help older people.

Volunteer Centres Devon
Volunteer Centres Devon are a group of nationally accredited Volunteer Centres working to promote and develop volunteer opportunities in Devon.  They help people find the right volunteer opportunity by matching their interests and skills with organisations wishing to recruit volunteers. 

West Devon Community and Voluntary Services

West Devon CVS supports local voluntary and community action by working with voluntary and community organisations and groups. Acting where possible with local partners they stimulate community activity, develop local networks, increase volunteering and provide a voice for the community and voluntary sector in West Devon. They do this through advice, support, practical and development services, and learning opportunities for individuals and groups in West Devon.  

COSMIC

A website design and computer training company based in Ottery St Mary, East Devon, providing training and website services to businesses, community organisations and individuals
